About Airicka
Hi, I’m Airicka and this is a little about me. You guessed it; I love being outside. If you are here you either love being outside too, or you want to get outdoors more. Either way, Welcome!
A little history about me.
Washington
I have lived from Washington USA, to Germany. Yet, I was born in Ohio, and traveled in a laundry basket in the back of a station wagon across the country to the beautiful state of Washington. I was only 4 weeks old, but I heard the story hundreds of times. Personally, I don’t recall the weeks journey, but this may be the reason I love traveling so much. You could say it’s in my birth right.
Germany
Somewhere around 2 years old I moved from Washington to Germany. Here I learned how to be adventurous. I was taught there is no challenge a person can overcome. See, there was a snow storm that blocked the front door to the apartment building and we climbed over the balcony to be able to play in the snow. Here I found my, curious 3 year old, self covered in fire ants and my parents came to the rescue. The beaches were nude, well not quite. See it was normal to swim naked and put your suit back on out of the water. Because of this, when we moved back state side, I didn’t want to keep a swim suit on. Yep… you guessed it, I was the 5 year old little girl on the beach that wouldn’t keep her swim suit on.
Maryland
Around 4 or 5 years old I moved to Maryland. This is where nature and being outside was set in stone for me. Maryland has everything a nature lover could want. You are close to the ocean. Vast wooded areas, to hike and camp. Farmland to hunt, and raise animals. As a young child, we would spend most of our summers at out in the woods, riding horseback, bathing in the waterfall/creek and learning to live with the bare minimum. That said, I learned at a very young age that all you really need is the earth to be healthy enough to provide.
Ohio
About the time I was 9 years old I moved back to my birth state of Ohio. Walking, biking, and just being a kid roaming learning new things. Outdoor sports, softball, cross country running, archery, and camping. I would not be caught inside. If I was found in the house then there were chores to do, and who wouldn’t rather spend time outside playing in the yard then folding laundry.
Kansas
Then it was on to Kansas, when I was 14. I learned that every state has some sort of beauty, while there. You just need to know where and what to look for, because Kansas is very flat. It would appear that there was not much to look at when you first get there. However, if you are sitting there at sunrise or sunset you will see the beauty in that state and those around it. There’s no hills or buildings to block the view. 100% pure beauty for as far as the eye can see in every direction. If you have never been to the flat lands for a sunrise, I highly recommed you put that on your bucket list.
Ohio
That brings be to moving, once again, back to Ohio, around 15 years old, and Ohio is where I stayed. Traveling being in my blood though, I have lived in most of the major areas of Ohio, and have visited all of them. I love living in Ohio. It has almost everything the USA has to offer. Vast forrest, rich rolling hills, flat farm land, Amish country, a large body of water (fresh water), hiking trails, public hunting land, bike trails, camping, and some of the best hiking trails.
Suprisingly, there is so much to do in Ohio that cost little to nothing. Seriously, how much does it cost to go for a walk? Nothing. you can walk barefoot if you choose. How much does it cost to take the family to the lake for the day? Watch the kids play in the sand and throw rocks into the water. You guessed it, that’s free too. There’s biking and camping have some cost with them but not much, if you go with just bare essectials.
This is all part of what keeps me in Ohio, and I truely hope that you learn to love the beauty of this state as much as I do. Come, see the world through my eyes and take a walk with me, enjoy that next family outing, remember what it was like when the world was new and exciting and stay in the moments when you are in them.
Well, that’s all about me, for now. See you in the Blogs!
